| Policy Statement |
|   | To be eligible for Student Family Housing, the applicant must be accepted as a student at the University of Memphis, and enrolled for a minimum of six (6) undergraduate, or three (3) graduate semester hours of credit at the University of Memphis by the close of the registration period for which housing is requested. The applicant must also be married, must be living with his/her spouse during the period of occupancy, or a single student who is a head of the household and living with legal dependents. An application/reservation deposit is required of each applicant for University housing and retained by the Department of Residence Life and Dining Services until such time as the apartment space is vacated. An initial three (3) month lease must be signed upon accepting an apartment. Rent is due in advance and must be paid by the first day of each month at the Bursar's Office, Room 115, Wilder Tower. Students whose rent is delinquent may be subject to encumbrance of all their University records and eviction from their apartment. |

| Student Family Housing Application | Applications may be obtained from the Department of Residence Life and Dining Services, University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee. Only members of the immediate family that include spouse and/or their dependent children may occupy the apartment. Other relatives are not permitted to live with the family as residents. Any change in family status, which changes the eligibility status, must be reported to the Assistant Area Coordinator for Student Family Housing within five (5) days of the occurrence. The student must request any exceptions in writing and the student must receive written permission from the Associate Dean of Students for Residence Life and Dining Services in order to remain in Student Family Housing. A maximum residency of two (2) years may be granted for dissertation. A student anticipating marriage may make application; however, proof of marriage must be shown before assuming occupancy. Guests are permitted, but their stay must be limited to a reasonably short visit and must be approved by the Assistant Area Coordinator for Student Family Housing. |

| Utilities | The University provides water; the tenant assumes the cost of electricity and/or gas. The new tenant is required to file a Service Request with Memphis Light, Gas, and Water Division and pay a deposit, if one is not already on file, in order to transfer utility service into the tenant's name to coincide with the beginning date of the lease. Proof of utility transfer must be provided to the Assistant Area Coordinator during check-in. Monthly service charges are the responsibility of the tenant. Termination or transfer of utility service must be made to the Memphis Light, Gas, and Water Division to coincide with the last day of occupancy. |
| Services | Furnishings: All units are rented unfurnished except for refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal, Venetian blinds, dishwasher, and carpeting. Garbage: It is the responsibility of the resident to deposit trash in the dumpsters located throughout Student Family Housing. The cleanliness of the garbage area is the responsibility of the resident. No large items, such as discarded barbecue grills, etc., or items dangerous to small children, should be placed in the garbage area. Notify the Assistant Area Coordinator to arrange a special pick-up. Mail Delivery: The United States Postal Service provides mail delivery to each apartment. The University provides mailboxes. It is the responsibility of the residents to notify all correspondents of their correct address as soon as possible. Residents are responsible for notifying the United States postal Service of any change in address. Parking: Parking is subject to the University of Memphis Campus Traffic and Parking Regulations. Commercial vehicles, boats, and trailers may not be parked in the complex. |
